  • Onion Browser is the original Tor-powered web browser that helps you bypass censorship and access the internet with more privacy.

“The best Tor-related offering on iOS right now is Onion Browser” - The Daily Dot, October 14, 2015.

    --------------------

    • Internet access tunneled over the Tor network:
    - Websites do not see your real IP address.
    - ISPs and insecure wireless networks cannot see your browsing.
    - Access .onion websites: anonymous "hidden service" sites only accessible through Tor.

    • Defeat internet filters and censors with "obfs4" & "meek" traffic masking. (See DISCLAIMERS below.)

    • Fight online tracking: use a new IP address and clear your cookies/history/cache in one button.

    • Block third party cookies or all cookies.

    • Disable scripts and multimedia content that can be used to track you.

    DISCLAIMERS:
Web browsing is much slower than through a normal web browser due to relaying through the Tor anonymization network.

Multimedia may bypass Tor and compromise your privacy; video files and video streams are blocked by default and are not supported by Onion Browser.

Onion Browser might not work when inside countries or using ISPs that actively block Tor with "deep packet inspection" technology. If you the app does not work, try using bridges or visit the Help/Support page to see what you can do.

Onion Browser is open-source software and relies on other projects including The Tor Project and OpenSSL. Use of Onion Browser is at your own risk; remember that sensitive data does not always belong on a mobile device. More information at onionbrowser.com

1.6.2 is a minor update: Tor has been updated to 0.2.8.7, which replaces a retiring bridge authority, contains minor bugfixes, and patches a major Tor bug that does not directly affect Onion Browser (since the ReachableAddresses is unused and unavailable in Onion Browser).

    ---

The 1.6 series is a major update to Onion Browser, which improves the Tor accessibility, performance, and overall security of Onion Browser.

Most importantly, Onion Browser now supports "pluggable transports" like obfs4 and meek, which improve connection support in locations that try to block Tor, thanks to the new "iObfs" library. See the Onion Browser official site for more information about the iObfs library. (Special thanks to the Onion Browser beta testers for their feedback on this new feature. Extra special thanks to The Guardian Project for supporting work on iObfs!)
